Founded in 1993 as the Portland branch of Nadeau & Lodge, Inc., Nadeau Land Surveys is proud of its strong reputation of quality service while providing a diversified range of professional land surveying, GPS/GIS mapping, floodplain services, and underground utility location.
Our licensed staff consists of three State of Maine licensed Professional Land Surveyors (#2124, #2370, and #2446), with a combined total of over 75 years of survey experience.
In 2014, Nadeau Land Surveys created Beyond the Boundary, a division of the company that provides continuing education opportunities for real estate and land use professionals.

To provide a unique combination of industry services, utilizing our formal education in various fields. With education in land surveying, civil engineering, forest engineering, survey engineering, business administration, floodplain management, marketing communication, underground utility location, and real estate brokerage, our staff competently offers a wide range of services and guidance. Jim is also a Realtor affiliated with The Maine Real Estate Network. He is qualified to guide clients through a multitude of real estate endeavors. Jim Nadeau, a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force, lives in Portland with his wife and two sons. In 1993, he became a State of Maine Professional Land Surveyor and co-founded Nadeau & Lodge. Jim became sole owner of the Portland office in 2005 and has since renamed the company to Nadeau Land Surveys. Currently, product, service, and guidance is delivered as Nadeau Land Surveys, Beyond the Boundary, or Above and Below Utility Locating (AAB). Jim holds three National Flood Insurance Program designations: Certified Floodplain Manager, Certified Floodplain Surveyor, and Associate in National Flood Insurance, has been a Realtor since 2004, and is an active State of Maine Associate Broker with The Maine Real Estate Network. Jim currently serves as a member of the State of Maine Board of Licensure for Professional Land Surveyors, and is a co-chair to the Federal Emergency Management Agency Sub-committee of the External Affairs Committee on the behalf of the National Society of Professional Land Surveyors. Jim has held several board positions on behalf of the Maine Society of Land Surveyors.
As an instructor with The Real Estate Learning Group and Beyond the Boundary, Jim conveys the importance of land surveying and floodplain management to Realtors, lenders, appraisers, municipal officials, and other professional consultants with intention to improve client representation and public safety. He is currently obtaining Kirkpatrick Gold, an international training evaluation certification, and is enrolled in the Emergency Management Institute’s Master Trainer Program. His formal education has passed through the doors of the University of Southern Maine, New England College of Business, and Finance, and Colorado State University for Real Estate, Business Administration, and Organizational Leadership, respectively.

Tom lives in New Gloucester with his wife and son. He received his Bachelor of Science in Forest Engineering from
the University of Maine, and has 20 years of surveying experience. Tom serves as Curator for the New Gloucester,
Maine, Historical Society, and is the proud author of Images of America- New Gloucester, released
September 2009 by Arcadia Publishing.

Mark lives in Scarborough with his wife and two daughters. He has been working in the surveying profession since
2002. He graduated from the University of Maine's Forestry program and completed his surveying courses at
Central Maine Community College. He is an active member in the local Narraganset Chapter of the Maine Society of
Land Surveyors and currently holds the position of Chapter Secretary. Mark is also a member of the Maine Society
of Land Surveyors.
Nikki, a native of Arlington, Virginia, moved up to Portland in 2011. She graduated from George Mason University
in Fairfax, VA, with a B.S. in Integrative Studies (Concentration in Conservation Studies). Nikki oversees
bookkeeping and database management, facilitates the company's educational activities, and designs marketing and
outreach materials, including our monthly newsletter, Welcome to the Flood Zone .
